Question tags: worked examples

A positive statement takes a negative tag with the same auxiliary.

You aren't from around here, are you?
A negative statement takes a positive tag.

She works at the hospital, doesn't she?
There is no auxiliary in the statement, so the tag borrows do/does.

They didn't tell you about the change, did they?
A negative past statement takes a positive tag, and 'didn't' becomes 'did'.

You'll be back by six, won't you?
'you'll' is 'you will', so the tag repeats will, not be.
