Terms of Service

linguafolks is operated by Grigor Hovhannisyan, 22 Rue Pierre Demours, 75017, Paris, France (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, please don't use it.

You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account. One account per person. Keep your sign-in details to yourself - you are responsible for what happens under your account.

linguafolks estimates your vocabulary level, rewrites reading material to match it, helps you memorise words with generated memory scenes, and offers grammar exercises. It is a study aid. It is not a qualification, and the CEFR level it reports is an estimate produced by a test we designed - not an official assessment, and not accepted as one by anybody.

Where a paid plan is offered, the price, billing period and what it includes are shown before you pay. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you can cancel at any time - cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves your access running until the end of the period you have paid for.

If you are a consumer in the EU you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal from a distance contract. Where you ask us to begin providing a digital service immediately, you acknowledge that right may be lost once performance has begun - but as a matter of practice, if you are unhappy within 14 days, write to us and we will refund you.

Fair-use limits apply to the AI features so that one account cannot exhaust shared capacity. Current limits are shown in the app when you approach them.

• Don't use linguafolks for anything unlawful, or to produce material that is hateful, harassing, or sexual involving minors.
• Only submit article addresses you are entitled to read. When you paste a link, we fetch that page and process its contents - don't point us at anything private, confidential, or paywalled, and don't use the feature to reproduce someone's work at scale.
• Don't automate, scrape, or resell the service, and don't try to work around the usage limits with multiple accounts.
• Don't attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service, or to extract the underlying prompts and models.

If you break these terms we may suspend or close your account. Where it is proportionate we will warn you first.

Texts, translations, memory scenes and images are produced by AI models on request. They can contain mistakes, oddities and inventions. Check anything that matters before you rely on it, and do not treat generated text as factual reference.

As between you and us, you may use the material generated for your account freely for your own learning. We make no claim of ownership over it and give no warranty that it is original or that it does not resemble material generated for someone else - with models, similar requests produce similar results.

Content you supply - prompts, links, notes - remains yours. You give us only the permission we need to operate the service on it, as described in the Privacy Policy.

The software, the design, the exercise sets, the word lists and the linguafolks name are ours or licensed to us. Using the service does not transfer any of that to you. Underlying language data drawn from public sources remains under its own terms.

We aim to keep linguafolks running, but it is provided as it is. We may change features, and we may take it down for maintenance. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service, and we depend on third-party providers whose outages are outside our control. If we discontinue the service altogether, we will give account holders reasonable notice and a way to export their data.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law - including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any non-excludable rights you have as a consumer.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for loss arising from your reliance on generated material. Our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period, or €50.

You may stop using linguafolks whenever you like and delete your account from your preferences; deletion is immediate and permanent. We may close an account that breaches these terms, or with reasonable notice if we discontinue the service.

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect. If you don't accept the new terms, stop using the service and delete your account.

These terms are governed by the law of France, and disputes belong to its courts. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory rules in your own country of residence, and you may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
