linguafolks vs Beelinguapp

frlisez n'importe quoi à votre niveau exact

Beelinguapp gives you parallel texts from its library. linguafolks gives you parallel texts from anywhere, at your exact level.

Beelinguapp is side-by-side parallel reading with audio, over a large curated library of stories and articles.

Beelinguapp popularised the format linguafolks also uses: your language on one side, the language you are learning on the other, so you are never fully lost and never fully carried. It does it well, it has audio, and it has a large and well-produced library behind it.

Two things constrain it. The first is difficulty: you choose from a small number of coarse levels, and you choose them yourself, which means the difficulty is a guess rather than a measurement. The second is supply: you read what has been curated. If nothing in the library is about the thing you are actually interested in this week, that is the end of the conversation.

linguafolks measures instead of asking, and generates instead of curating. A one-minute test estimates your vocabulary size and places you inside a CEFR band; any URL you paste, or any one-line description of what you feel like reading, comes back written at that level with the original alongside.

The difference

Three things Beelinguapp doesn't do

01
Coarse bands, chosen by you
Difficulty is a small number of levels that you select for yourself. Self-assessment is the least reliable input available: most people place themselves by how they feel about the language rather than by what they can read. linguafolks measures a vocabulary size and places you to Lower, Mid or Upper within a band, then writes to that.
02
Their library, or nothing
Curated content means somebody had to decide in advance that you would want it. linguafolks takes any URL, or a sentence describing what you feel like reading, and produces the text, so the supply of material at your level is not a catalogue but everything.
03
No mnemonics, no grammar exercises
Reading is the whole product. linguafolks closes the loop: the words you did not know become drawn scenes, and the grammar underneath them becomes short exercises in French and English.
Exact-level rewriting

Read anything at your exact level.

The text is rewritten to sit within reach, hard enough to grow and easy enough to finish, with the original beside it so you can see what changed and check yourself against it. Tap any word to find out what it means and keep it.

She hesitated a long time before ordering. The waiter waited by the counter, in no hurry. She finally chose a hot chocolate and a slice of pie.

He noted the order with a nod. Outside, the rain was just beginning. She opened her book and forgot the rest of the world.

Where Beelinguapp wins

No product is better at everything, and a comparison that pretends otherwise is worth nothing to the person reading it.

What Beelinguapp does better

  • Audio narration alongside the text, which linguafolks does not have at all.
  • A big, well-produced curated library, professionally edited.
  • The parallel reading interface itself is mature and pleasant to use.
  • Far more languages than we support.

Where linguafolks falls short

  • Grammar exercises exist in French and English only. The other four languages have reading and vocabulary.
  • There is no audio and no speaking practice anywhere in the product.
  • We generate texts rather than curate them, so there is no hand-edited library to browse.
  • Six languages: French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese and English.
  • It is a new product, without the years of polish the established apps have.
Which to choose

Plainly, then

Choose Beelinguapp if

  • Audio matters to you. We have none, and that is a real gap.
  • You would rather browse a curated shelf than describe what you want.
  • Your language is not one of our six.

Choose linguafolks if

  • You want to read about your own interests, not a library's.
  • You would rather be measured than pick a band.
  • You want vocabulary and grammar work attached to what you just read.

Questions

Does linguafolks have audio like Beelinguapp?
No. There is no audio and no speaking practice anywhere in the product today. If listening is your priority, Beelinguapp is the better choice.
Is the parallel layout the same?
Very similar: target language and your language side by side. The difference is that our target-language side has been rewritten to your measured level.
Can I still read curated material?
Yes, there are ready-made texts. You are just not limited to them.

It takes about a minute and needs no account. Whatever you decide afterwards, you will at least know where you actually are.

Claims about Beelinguapp were checked in August 2026 against the company's own published material. Either way, check theirs before you decide. If something here is out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
